Here you will find information about Mashwani history, culture and way of life. Mashwani is a pushto word meaning "inkpot". It is a scholarly symbol.
The story behind the name is such that Syed Banda Nawaz Gaisu Daraz migrated from Iraq to Iran and then to Afghanistan. He was a scholar and poet. He married a Pushtun lady from Kakar tribe. When she gave birth to a boy and the news reached Gaisu Daraz, he was writing a poem. So he named the boy "Mashwani".
Mashwanis are mostly located in
Sirikot, Gudwalian (good valley), Basoo areas of Hazara division and Dir.
